Setting Details

This page was machine-translated. The Japanese page is the official version.

This page describes the settings available when generating a configuration file on the device registration page.

Hostname (Prefix)

Sets the prefix of the device hostname. When the device is registered, an automatically generated string is appended to this prefix to form the hostname.

Wi-Fi

Enter the information for the Wi-Fi networks the device will use. Leave these settings empty if the device will use only a wired connection.

  • SSID, Password (WPA/PSK)

Enter the SSID and password of the access point. If you enter multiple networks, the one shown highest in the list has priority. See Wi-Fi priority.

Note

The SSID is sent to the Actcast server in plain text. The password is encrypted before it is sent.

Note

Supported Wi-Fi bands vary by device. See Available Wi-Fi for the bands supported by each device.

You can also change Wi-Fi settings from the Device Details page after device setup.

Wi-Fi priority

When multiple SSIDs and passwords are configured, the device prioritizes the network shown highest in the list. If the network environment changes while the device is running, the device selects a network according to the same priority order.

For example, if AP1 and AP2 are configured in that order:

Available SSIDs SSID used
AP1 only AP1
AP2 only AP2
AP1 and AP2 AP1

Wired settings

Use static IP settings (IPv4)

Enable this setting only when you do not want to obtain an IP address from a DHCP server.

This setting can only be changed during device kitting, when the configuration file is generated. To change it after registration, you must kit the device again.

Static IPv4 settings

When Use static IP settings (IPv4) is enabled, you can configure:

  • Static IPv4 address and subnet
  • Router address
  • DNS server address

Set the router and DNS server addresses only if needed. Use values that are valid on the network where the device will be installed. For details, see Firmware Operating Requirements.

I2C

Enables I2C on the Actcast device.

This setting can only be changed during device kitting, when the configuration file is generated. To change it after registration, you must kit the device again.

Enable this setting when using an Act that connects to I2C sensors or modules. If I2C is not needed, you can usually leave it disabled.

For an example of an application that uses I2C, see i2c-sensor in actcast-app-examples.

Note

Check the connection method and required settings for the peripheral device and Act you are using.

Important

Before using I2C, confirm device compatibility, wiring, and voltage requirements for the connected hardware.

SPI

Enables SPI on the Actcast device.

This setting can only be changed during device kitting, when the configuration file is generated. To change it after registration, you must kit the device again.

Enable this setting when using an Act that connects to SPI sensors or modules. If SPI is not needed, you can usually leave it disabled.

Note

Check the connection method and required settings for the peripheral device and Act you are using.

Important

Before using SPI, confirm device compatibility, wiring, and voltage requirements for the connected hardware.
