This page describes how to use Actcast Writer on Windows.
Actcast Writer Setup
Actcast Writer for Windows needs to be set up for the first time. In this section, we show the procedure.
- Launch the downloaded
actcast-writer-setup.exe. -
- If the following dialog is displayed, click
More info -
- Make sure the app name is the same as the one you downloaded and click
Run anyway -
- Read the license agreement and click
I Agree. -
- Then the installation will start. If it is successful, the setup is complete.
- Installation does not require administrator privileges.

- When the setup is complete,
actcast-writerwill be added to the Start menu.- The software itself is located in
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Programs\actcast-writer. - You can search
actcast-writeron the start menu. -

Using Actcast Writer
This section describes the procedure to write data to the SD card using Actcast Writer.
- Enter required data according to the Writer screen. The details of each item can be found in config details
- Enter the
Provisioning Token - Enter the
Hostname(Prefix) - (When using Wi-Fi from the device) Set the
Wi-Fi - Select
Country - Click
Advanced settings(if required).
- Enter the
- Select
Target Driveyou want to install.- The SD card shown as
Target Drivemust be formatted. See supplement for the format method. - If your SD card does not appear as an option, try the following:
- Make sure that the SD card is recognized by your PC running the Writer.
- Make sure the SD card is formatted correctly.

Writebutton- When writing to the SD card starts, the screen below will be displayed.

- You see
write successwhen the writing is successful.- Then you can remove the SD card.

(Supplement) SD card format method
Learn how to format an SD card with standard Windows 10 features.
- Make sure that the unformatted SD card is recognized by Windows.
- (Example: A USB card writer with an SD card inserted appears in the Explorer)
- From now on, the drive of the SD card will be

Win + Rto show input dialog. Then typediskmgmt.mscand pressOKbutton. -
- Operate
Disk Management- Confirm that the SD card is displayed as
D - Right-click on
Unallocatedpart of the item. - Click
New Simple Volume
- Confirm that the SD card is displayed as
New Simple Volume Wizardis displayed.- Press the
Nextbuttons until you reachFormat Partition
- Press the

Format this volume with the following settings:- Change the item
File systemasFAT32 - Enter a desired character string for the
Volume label(Now we enterACTCASTas an example)
- Change the item
- After that, keep the default values and press
