About Firmware Update of the Actcast Agent #

Firmware Update updates the basic software that runs devices. That process contains necessary updates including security fixes, changes needed to run devices stably, and so on. Hence we recomend you to keep the firmware latest.

Actcast Agent starts Firmware Update as soon as it find the latest version of the firmware.

If the latest firmware is found problematic, that version will be discarded and will not be installed to devices. Because Actcast Agent have nothing to do with this process, the device can install the latest firmware in which bugs are fixed even when Actcast Agent has serious problem and cannot recover from automatically or doesn’t accept operations from the Web UI.

However, you may not want the automatic updates to cause downtime during use. In Actcast, the Update Schedule function allows you to specify the time range during which automated firmware updates are prohibited for each device.

Set for each device #

Go to the Device Details and click the edit button of Prevent Update.

Click Add time range to prevent update.

Select the date and time specification method and set it. If you select days of week, for example, the following screen will be displayed.

Select <code>days of week</code>

When you’re done, click the update button to save your settings.

Set for multiple devices at once #

Select the device in Devices page, select Action > Update Schedule.

Methods #

You can set the date and time to prevent updates automatically using the following method.

`days of week` #

This setting is for specifying the day of the week and time. It prohibits the automatic update of the selected day of the week at the specified time range.

You need to set the following items:

Days of the week not to be updated (multiple selections allowed)
Time range not to be updated
Time zone

By adding more items by clicking time range to prevent update, You can also set the time range for each day of the week, respectively.

`specific date` #

This setting is for specifying a date and time. It prohibits automatic updates at a specified time range on the selected date.
