Config Details

This section describes the details of each setting that can be configurable in Actcast Writer.

Provisioning Token

Enter the Provisioning Token that was issued by Actcast.

See Issue Provisioning Token for details on how to issue Provisioning Token.

Hostname(Prefix)

Enter the prefix of the hostname of the device.

The hostname of the device managed by Actcast will be the name set this followed by the auto-generated string concatenated when the device is registered.

Wi-Fi

Enter the information of Wi-Fi which is used by the device. It is not necessary for wired connections only.

  • SSID, Password(WPA/PSK)

Enter the SSID and password for each access point. When you enter multiple settings, the one listed above will have higher priority. See Wi-Fi Priority for details.

The SSID is in plain text and the password is encrypted and sent to the Actcast server.

The compatible Wi-Fi frequency band depends on the device. The supported Wi-Fi frequency band for each device can be found in Available Wi-Fi.

Also, you can change Wi-Fi configurations from the DeviceDetails page after the device setup.

Wi-Fi Priority

If you set multiple SSIDs and passwords, the one shown above is preferentially activated. And when the network environment changes while the device is running, the SSID used is determined based on this priority order.

For example, when you set SSIDs (AP1 and AP2) and their passwords in this order, the relationship between the usage environment and the SSID actually used is shown below:

available SSID SSID to be used
only AP1 AP1
only AP2 AP2
AP1 and AP2 AP1

Country

Select the country where you will install the device.
